thanksgiving...and good-bye to sheila =(

for thanksgiving this year, we headed down to LA with some good friends and rented a house in the hollywood hills.  we were excited for some warmer weather, cleaner air, and time to relax!  when we got back home, we only had 4 days left with sheila, a very special person who has been a part of our family since lyla was 3 months old. sheila headed home to ireland to be closer to her family, and we (especially me!) had a rough time saying good-bye to someone who has loved and cared for our children like they were her own.

on the road again...

striking a pose with john's sunglasses

john was mesmerized by all the electric scooters on
melrose ave...he even made lyla knock them down
(or at least pretend to!)

we had to hit up target for some toys to entertain the kids

i was so excited to teach them my favorite childhood game...yahtzee!!!!!!!

the toy that everyone loves...the TV =)

most of the gang!

morning cartoons with boomie

buddies

the highlight of every trip for the kids

pool time!

john got to tug her around the pool...
but at least he didn't have to get in the water!

taking turns jumping to doro

night swimming...yes, please!

we braved LA traffic to hit up the santa monica pier

who's ready to fly??

little kid bumper cars

these two were up for all the rides

jacks' buddy wasn't into the rides, so he was hesitant at
first but eventually joined in the fun

i took lyla on her first ferris wheel ride
(it always makes me nervous at the top)

of course, 2 minutes in and
she had to pee "REALLY BAD"

later we headed home and checked out the avenue of stars

the cutest sisters ever

my sleeping beauties

livi is the best helper with little kids

spotted this gem on our hike

so the kids began building their own!

post-shake shack lunch

two of the many things i am thankful for

the Pellegrini fam

our last night...movie time!

headed home to san francisco

sheila and the crew!!

every time someone leaves the house, lyla HAS
to look out the front window and wave goodbye

these three would often be playing uno when i came home from work

sheila really helped make the holidays special for them
(holidays will not be as festive anymore!)

showing off their cards

the one that will miss sheila the most

my sweet, sweet girl

jacks drew sheila all the part of a flower =)

proud of his work, but hates posing for photos

the last day

snuggling while watching home alone

who is going to protect riggy from lyla now??

sharing their cards with sheila

group hug!

lyla hasn't  known life without sheila in it! =(

i think they hated us with all
the pictures we made them take

one last group photo!

final hugs

making sure sheila doesn't forget to wave goodbye

until next time!

i dried my tears and indulged in the gifts sheila left us...
all my favorites (wine, chocolate, haribo)
