1 year down...16+ to go

livi and jacks just finished up their first year of school.  while they still have two more years at parker and many more thereafter, i'm sure this one will always have a special place in our hearts.  they seemed so young last september as they began their first experience away from home - we were so nervous.  they've now blossomed into real little kids, telling us all about things like volcanos and which kids get in trouble for hitting.  quite the little gossipers already!

sometimes the kids want to take the bus to school
(john usually obliges)

the teachers always have an interesting and new activity in the art room

i love how much exposure to creativity they get at school
because they don't get much at home!

they go to school so clean and cute...

...and come home a mess!
(especially livi with her hair clips out and
her face and clothes caked in dirt face)

3 years + 5 months...and 4 months!

another busy month has passed.  jacks and livi are still doing great, loving school, and treating the baby well.  they are very into 'monsters' at the moment - they love asking us to pretend to be monsters and chase them around the house.  this usually happens when going upstairs to bed.  while we're not thrilled with the game, we are thrilled that they will get to bed faster if we play along.  given this new monster obsession, we thought it would be great to show them the movie monsters, inc. and use that time as an opportunity to get other things done.  we hoped to clean up the house during the movie, but our plans changed as soon as they saw the opening scene (with monsters hiding in closets to scare all the children) and insisted on holding our hands for the next 1.5 hours.

lyla is still as sweet as ever.  she weighed in at 12.13 pounds at her check-up, which puts her in the 25th percentile...though people are still fooled into thinking she's a big baby by her head, which is in the 90th percentile.  she loves taking baths, watching the kids play, and staring at herself in the mirror.  she's been drooling a lot but still no sign of any teeth.  we're enjoying having a baby around more than we originally anticipated...i guess that means she's exceeded our expectations on how wonderful she is!
