5 years + 1 month...and lyla is 2!

lyla is 2!  if i remember correctly, things just get easier from here...right?!  we've been waiting for her language to develop (she seemed a bit behind), and thankfully it's exploded within just the last couple of weeks.  we're hoping all the screaming (and biting her siblings) was out of frustration since she couldn't effectively communicate.  i'm cautiously optimistic!

lyla had a great doctor check-up - weighing in at 28lbs (68th percentile) and measuring 33in (36th percentile).  she's doing great physically - goes up and down our stairs with ease, and has even started climbing out of her crib.  nothing like waking up in the middle of the night to a big thump and then a little visitor beside our bed.  on the bright side, she's at least now coming into our room on her own vs. standing in the hallway and yelling (and making us get out of bed).

one of these days we'll do a birthday party for lyla...so far though, we haven't been able to muster up the energy to coordinate anything beyond some candles and treats with our immediate family.  poor girl has the birthday that follows livi and jacks' birthday, christmas, and new years...i think john and i have 2 more years before she'll start to notice that she's getting the short end of the birthday stick.

don't they looks so big??

jacks and livi fight to get equal parts of lyla
on their laps

there's the birthday girl!

she was actually excited for her hat!

sibling snuggles

lyla and i got some one-on-one time together

let's just say i don't think she's ready to be my
shopping buddy quite yet...i should have brought liv!

it took some snacks to get a little cooperation

that is the face of someone who discovered that
chocolate could reside inside a croissant!

livi, jacks...are you coming to pick us up yet?

meanwhile at the museum of flight....

there was lots to see and do

they had a blast with their dad and abuelo!

later while at dinner (god, help us all!)

thanks to abuela, santa was able to find
jacks, livi, and lyla in bellevue

her only interests were playing with wrapping paper
and eating leftover cookies

admiring the dino robot

we'll have to make it back up north soon \
so they can ride these amazing bikes

she's starting to look so much more grown-up!

craziness at the airport

you can imagine the terror on the other passengers' faces
when they see this spectacle as we wait to board
