spring break cabo - part 2

here is the next round of pictures...

watching their daddy and lyla doing an
early morning photo shoot

we're up so early anyway and the beach was deserted

well, almost deserted

look at that cutie!

checking out the view

one of the many places she slept on this trip

our very own merman

the pool crew

little grandma helen

she didn't enjoy the splashing

time to sunbathe

still sporting his mani-pedi

when we travel, john always laughs at me because...

...i pack about 50 snack bars 'just in case'

this was us every morning at 8:30am...
livi means business!

helping abuelo with his sunscreen

lyla wants a tan too!

same wispy hair that livi had as a baby

our dedicated seat savers every morning

at least someone was thinking about bones!

standing on furniture...what else is new

all those beautiful smiles

wind blown, sun-kissed hair

nap time...

for everyone!

lyla snuggles!

apparently abuela has the comfiest lap

hanging in our room post baths

getting ready for our last evening in mexico together

most of us are actually smiling...a success!

a great argentinian restaurant for our celebratory dinner

the man who gave our daughters their baby blues

say "french fry"!

just me and my baby

so sweet...when asleep

they even share a pillow

even though we bonded over sharing a bed,
we were all looking forward to our own space back at home

waiting for our van to arrive and take us to the airport

the beginning of our 8 hour stretch of snacks
(i dole out various items throughout our travels
to keep their tummies full and hearts happy)

thai delivery...our usual post-travel dinner when we get
home from the airport at 9pm!

first thing the next morning, we headed to trader joe's (hence the stickers)
...back to the real world

spring break cabo - part 1

we decided to celebrate the kids' first official spring break (yes, preschools have spring break) with a wild and crazy trip to mexico. this was also my last hurrah before heading back to work after a lovely maternity leave.  the trip was absolutely wonderful, mostly because the weather was perfect and we had our fabulous family with us.  not only did john and i enjoy spending time with 'buelo, 'buela, uncle mike and auntie keet, but the kids had additional playmates who spent many hours in the pool with them.  we would definitely come back!

car to the airport locked and loaded

heading to the gate
(with stops for food and coffee along the way)

my secret weapon
(high value treats for emergencies)

daniel tiger + snacks = quiet time for me

we were so excited to finally arrive...
until we had to wait in the customs line for over 45 minutes

in the van and on our way to mexico
(the kids didn't think we were in mexico until we got to the hotel)

first stop was the pool (even though the sun was going down)

the next morning was easter

abuela was so sweet to hide eggs for jacks and liv!

they obviously had a blast

checking out the view

hanging in the sand

watching the waves roll in

at first they were apprehensive but quickly got comfortable

lyla representing bones

john and i traded off being on 'baby duty'...
it was a coveted position

this was the alternative to baby duty...
not nearly as relaxing

busy little bees

exploring the hotel grounds

i was trying to tire them out so they'd take a nap

after sand, pool, and lunch, it's time to head inside for
an afternoon siesta

they successfully fell asleep after about an hour of this
(creating the barrier did not actually help them settle down)

lyla and i would hang out on the balcony while
the twins napped

two virgin miami vices, please

they were in heaven

this is why vacation was so great...
we got a break from supervising the twins in the pool!

all plugged up

we went into town one evening

enjoyed a dinner out, followed by an ice cream cone

off for an adventure
we came all the way to cabo to ride the trolley
(we took the free ride around to the adjacent hotels)
it was as if we were in disneyland

i mean, look at that smile

our little beauty

dinners at home were nice...you can't beat the company and the ambiance

hmmm, what could you possibly be waiting for??

a little bedtime treat of sugary ice cream to help them wind down
(don't try this at home)
