jacks and livi are 7!!!

we have two 7 year-olds!  and they are pretty much the best seven year-olds we could have asked for.  maybe because we are managing a volatile and defiant 3 year-old, in contrast these two are so independent, easy-going and easy to please, and actually fun to hang out with (i find myself wanting them to come with my on errands whereas we used to beg to do errands alone!).

still the best of friends
(although they do argue a bit more now)

they kinda remind us of me and john =)

if only lyla was always this sweet

that's riggy's look of terror

time to head to school as 7 year-olds

i was very relieved when they let me take
pictures of them at 7am and even smiled!

just like how john looks at me every morning at 7am lol

still super silly all the time

this is they're "ok seriously, another picture?" look

lyla wanted to join the fun too

time for a check-up!  thankfully, no shots.

herbie conveniently shares a birthday with jacks and livi - he turned 2!

working on the garden sheila got her for her bday

seeds planted, soil watered, fairy on guard

a week later, we added the sprouts to my pizza - yum!

enjoying one of his birthday gifts

jacks got a remote-controlled car from sheila!

the girls made some obstacles for him to navigate

getting goody bags prepped for their birthday party

livi and her friends built a big fort, complete with music and a disco ball,
while jacks and his friends played soccer and basketball in the backyard

this monstrosity is still in their bedroom 3 weeks later

afternoon donut break

a special dinner-and-a-show date with my mini-me

a christmas carol

lyla got to visit john at work...and see her furry bud jackson

herbie woke up the next morning with a very puffy face

poor guy had to have an abscess drained

the cone poked a hole behind his ear overnight, and it
was very bloody...but i'm proud of my bandaging skills!

we switched to a softer,
albeit more ridiculous-looking, "cone"

naps for everyone under 4 years-old

that includes lyla's babies

our early christmas gift to each other arrived

hmmm, that doesn't look or smell like livi in bed

her favorite doggy

our friend maggie...and riggy's favorite gal pal Kiwi

puzzle, puzzles, and more puzzles

my parents came for a week to help watch the kids...it was a full house!

mr. grinch...he hates the big, fluffy, golden house guests

john's midnight crew

snuggles before school

not sure what lyla's teacher thought of her portrait

movie night for the whole gang

with no more naps, lyla is now falling asleep all over the place

she sure is chipper in the morning though!

lentil soup taste test

modeling necklaces as i get ready for a holiday party

museum of ice cream with the ladies

so many treats!

cotton candy, yes please!

working from home

it's been a rough day

look at those beautiful ears

winter celebration at preschool...and pajama day!

play = child's work.  too bad i'm not a child anymore.

learned to ride in about 15 minutes...go lyla!

she's now part of our biker gang

watching post-ride highlights

brunch with baby senna!

so sweet and happy

i'm not sure patrick quite fits in that backpack

never fear - bat girl is here!

thank goodness i don't have a need for personal space

nobody wants to be left out =)

when your two babies are just so stinkin tired

family walk through golden gate park

they went hunting for all 18 exercise stations...it was a long morning

future olympians

this was probably the 20th picture we took...trying to
get all kids hanging and the dogs looking was rough!

this is seven.
