february adventures

despite the record rainfall over the past few weeks, we've managed to get out and about recently and look forward to the arrival of spring.  john's wildest birthday dreams came to fruition this month when we had a birthday bowling party with friends in napa.  everything he dreamed of for his big 3-6 came true!

out watching a half marathon

taking a break from scooting

we went to a crazy super bowl party

lyla liked playing with little sugar

playtime at the park

cheering on jacks at his soccer practice

cheerleading was exhausting

recharged and ready to play

our dishwasher

lyla's been loving the aftermath of the rain

testing out some potential new running shoes

my little fashionista
(definitely doesn't get it from me!)

this is more like me...
hair a mess and wearing what's clean

john invited us to come visit him at work

everyone was super excited to...

eat LOTS of snacks!

little lyft fans

livi is a pro at the request for a silly pose

the master and his apprentice

livi's teachers helped her write a note home to us

lyla's taking a bully ride

bones is not a fan of me working from home

bedtime stories

practicing work-life balance

lyla's getting her hair done!

livi tried on sheila's knee brace

and then the kids decided to make their own

modeling her creation

enjoying a valentine's day treat

i found these 2 eating their stash of about 20 jelly beans...two weeks
later jacks told me he still has a jelly bean left (talk about self control!)

getting our sillies out before baths

now that everyone is clean, let's roll around in dog hair

saturday night ice cream!

ready to get our bowl on!

even the littlest of kids can bowl

the kids got to use these ramps and lane bumpers...i was jealous.

i don't think it gets too much grosser than this...
rolling around on the bowling alley floor

building a home for her baby in our friend's garage

late night cake-baking for john's birthday

sleepover at ben's napa house to celebrate john and ben's mom's birthday!

our beautiful creation!

5 years + 2 months...and 2 years + 1 month

2017 has been treating us well so far!  while the year had a busy start, we both feel like we've had a little room to breathe lately.  our weekends have been relatively free from travel and birthdays, so we've been spending more time at home, venturing out to cruise around on scooters and bikes.

nobody was interested in taking pics this month

thankfully, holding a cookie over john's
head got a few smiles

natural models =)

let the countdown until 3 begin!

we couldn't find her usual prop, so mickey had to do

it took five years, but jacks and livi now like salad!

salad making is the perfect kid activity

arugula, carrots, peanuts, raisins

a shot of flax oil to get things moving!

a perfect weeknight dinner after the kids are asleep

mornings with lyla

lyla has a limited diet -
thankfully, breakfast burritos make the cut

so does pasta!

evening snuggles

a typical saturday morning for us

little painters

passed out

dropping off her friend luca at school

mid-week fun

can you tell they love their little sister?

thank goodness for indoor spaces to escape the rain

can't believe our kids are on real bikes...where has the time gone?

lyla and i went on a run to pick up jacks and livi

by the time we got to their friend's house, it was pouring

even though we were soaked and livi cried the
whole way home, jacks and i had a blast!

loaded up and off to run errands

an afternoon ice cream treat

we then headed to the park to burn off some energy

later that afternoon, we headed to urgent care after i sliced my finger

they were very excited to watch my wound get tended to

when i got dizzy, they made me lie down so the kids became unsupervised

thankfully, lyla was strapped in or we all would have been in trouble

after an hour, i was bandaged up and ready to resume making dinner

john was in tahoe for the weekend, so i relaxed
with a glass of wine and my guard dog

sharing a bowl of yogurt

bones is not so sure about this idea

livi's bear mask and jewelry making machine

we are all very happy when john gets home from work

ride 'em cowgirl

milk bubbles

a new hairdo

reflecting over brownie batter

playing house...it's bedtime!

lyla's daily chore

you have to keep an eye on her or his bowl will quickly be overflowing

bath time always brings (more) chaos

flying baby!

chopping grapes at a birthday party

jacks got mail from a friend after he sent her a letter

livi was PISSED she didn't get a letter too (but we
reminded her that you have to send mail to get mail)

park clean-up day with their preschool

the area was surprisingly pristine...
so we did some weeding instead

after it started raining, they began examining worms in a magnifying glass

ready for her visit to the dentist

our little pro

lyla's first visit was a success
(not that you can tell from her expression)
