back to running for me...and bones!

as soon as we found out we were having twins, i stopped running.  it's been nine long months and as soon as i made it to 6 weeks postpartum, bones and i are were off for a run...well, more like a jog/walk! while i'm definitely feeling sluggish, it feels so good to be back - bones even seems to be enjoying it.  rach, kim and i are planning to do a trail run in april so i have my motivation to keep on running (that and the thick layer of belly fat that needs to go). =)

back to work for john...

after six glorious weeks at home, john headed back to work last week.  while it was sad to see him go, i was especially thankful that my mom is here to assist with the transition.  she goes back to sb on thursday, so i'll be officially on my own then!  between groceries, dishes, laundry, the dog and the babies, i'm not sure how it's all going to get done...

when both my parents were here, john and i were able to sneak away for our first date night in a long time.  not only did we celebrate the past six weeks we've spent as a new family, we also toasted to 12 years of being together!  because i was on bed rest for so long, the past few months have been filled with take-out, meals at home and hospital food, so it was so nice to actually have a night out on the town.  we partied hard until a whopping 8:30pm and arrived home to babies soundly sleeping in my parents' arms.  maybe we'll make it out past 9pm next time?!?

with john at work, my mom and i have been making the most of our days.  we've made outings to the pediatrician and grocery store and even went out to lunch at a nearby sandwich shop.  i'm hoping i'll still make it out of the house each day when i'm on my own...well, maybe every other day, let's be realistic here.

little 49er fans

saturday was a wonderful day - not only did we get to watch football ALL day long, but the 49ers won in an exciting game against the saints.  normally, i'd rather be watching my dvr shows than spending the whole day on the couch watching football, but i have to admit that the game definitely kept my attention!  thanks to cryztal and tre, olivia and jackson were able to sport some red and gold while cheering on their favorite team.  can't wait to put them back in these outfits on sunday!  although, now that john is headed to the game this weekend, i wonder if my mom and i will end up switching the channel to catch up on a little grey's anatomy...

alone with 2 babies for 30 hours...

last weekend john headed to phoenix for a friend's wedding, which gave me some alone time with the babies.  i figured it was good practice since john will be headed back to work shortly.  the good news is that i survived, and more importantly, jackson and olivia did too!

the most challenging part of the weekend was hearing a lot more crying than i was used to.  after feeding, there were many times i'd have to let one cry while i changed and dressed the other, and then if both were crying, it took twice as long to soothe them both.  because of the extra activity during the day, they were thankfully champs at night and slept more than usual so in the morning i actually felt pretty good.  after a nice sunday stroll, we then counted down to john's return.  while i'm always happy to see him, nothing compared to my feelings of joy when he walked through the front door!

finally both asleep!

i even managed to give them a bath

best buddies?!?

ever since we found out we were having twins, we were excited at the thought that olivia and jackson would grow up to be best buddies...and ever since we brought them home, we realized that may not happen for a while, since for the most part, they seem to barely acknowledge each other's existence. =)  we've had them sleeping together from the start, so we do think they do take comfort in each other's presence...they also seem to stick together when it's time to scream.  hopefully, as they grow and develop, we'll catch them smiling and laughing together too.  while we wait for their friendship to blossom, we're just enjoying how cute they are when then are next to each other!

the babies are due today...

today is jackson and olivia's original due date...it's also their 4 week birthday!  we can't believe how fast the time has flown by and how well they are thriving.  we weighed them yesterday and both officially crossed the 7lbs mark (7lb 1oz to be exact).  we are excited they are getting bigger so we can start dressing them in all the adorable clothes they've received as gifts.  we also celebrated today by taking a stroll down fillmore and getting some yummy chocolate fro-yo for mom and dad. =)

big brother bones

it's about time we dedicated a post to the original baby pellegrini...bones!  the biggest question we (and many others) had was, how will bones handle the new family members?

while we weren't sure what to expect, we have been pleasantly surprised.  he likes to come up and sniff when we are holding them and is very curious if they start screaming.  other than that, he's handling the many changes in stride.  most nights he hangs in his crate or on our bed and sleeps through the commotion of feeding, changing and soothing that seems to never end.  on a few occasions, he decides the cries are keeping him up and makes his way downstairs to sleep in his chair...i think john wishes he could do that too!

bones has been loving all the extra attention my parents and john's parents have been giving him so now that they are gone, we'll have to keep showering him with love and greenies in their absence!
