fun with leanne!

for the past month, we've been fortunate to have a new addition to the family - leanne!  she comes all week to help with jacks and liv while john and i are working.  when she gets in every morning, the babes are always happy to see her and even bones comes running from our bedroom, wagging uncontrollably, just to say good morning.

over the past week or so, she's sent me the below pictures of their adventures at the park and music class.  i about died when she sent the first picture of them in the swing - i was kinda surprised at how touched i was when first seeing them...they are just growing up so fast!

before leanne's pics, we had no idea we could even start putting them in the swing so first thing we did on saturday was head to the park!  wow, we did not realize how packed it was going to be - maybe it was the great weather or maybe that's how weekends always are??  we even braved going to a different park on sunday - I think we'll have to head over there at less popular times in the future for a more relaxed experience!

yummy food and chunky thighs

we had a great weekend with my parents!  they were lucky to catch some beautiful sf weather so we spent a nice long morning at the farmer's market at the ferry building.  we hadn't been there in ages and forgot how nice it is just to walk around to look at (and taste) all the local goodies.  because we were all up at 7:30am, it was perfect that we got there early as the crowds were already starting to form as we were leaving...especially around the line to our usual chilaquiles stop.  that afternoon we enjoyed the sunny weather by strolling down union and chestnut streets, picking up some dessert at pacific puffs before heading to dinner at mamacita.  it was a great food day!  good thing my saturday morning started with a run. =)

so, we've come to realize that our babies are getting past the stage of "i sleep in the carrier whenever we go out".  livi was awake and active for all of dinner, so she was on my lap the whole time chatting away and playing with her dragonfly toy.  thankfully, the restaurant was pretty noisy so the other diners didn't have to listen to her 30 second stretches of "eeeehhhhhhhhhhhh"!

a beautiful start to our saturday morning

loving the wind in his hair

over the past couple of weeks, we've noticed how chunky jacks and liv are getting - it is AWESOME! there is nothing cuter than admiring a baby's chubby thighs...probably because as adults, it's not so cute anymore.  these babies are eating a lot and it is showing. =)

new "firsts"

another week has flown by and the family has experienced a few new "firsts"....

-- no more swaddles.  john and i always worry that changing their sleeping situation will create nighttime chaos...so far we've always been proved wrong. first we moved them out of our bedroom, then separated them into their own cribs and now stripped them of their swaddles...each time, they don't even notice!  they continue to sleep like experts from about 7:30/8pm until 6:30am.  every morning one of them wakes up around 6:15ish and i watch them on the monitor just looking around and talking - pretty adorable.  it's a nice little wake-up call to start thinking about getting up, brushing our teeth, and preparing the bottles.

drooping eyelids = sleepy...crap!

catnap before dinner

-- first library visit.  leanne took them up to the local library and checked out some books.  we got so many books as gifts i didn't even think about heading to the library but am so happy she did.  it's so nice to have a variety to read to them since they are so interested in all the colorful pictures.  when we read "two is for twins" for the first time, i can't explain the warm fuzzy feeling i got...it just reminds me how lucky we are for these two wonderful babies and for the unique experience they'll have growing up together.

-- watched mama run a race.  exactly a year ago, i ran my last race.  it was my first trail run and i loved it, so when rachel and kim signed up to do the muir woods run again this year, i decided to join them.   john, bones and the kiddos came along and hung out at the start/finish line in stinson beach.  the weather was perfect and the views were amazing - it was a nice change from my usual SF runs.  i can't wait for jacks and liv to be a little older and cheer me on - for now just having them there sleeping in their stroller was a nice treat!

shocked to learn i was the first female to finish...
wish the rubber chicken purse was filled with cash!

stayed in marin for lunch

just where he loves to be - with dad
and yes, that means i'm in the backseat squished between 2 carseats

-- one word...costco.  while some head to church on sunday mornings, we went out for a breakfast burrito and a trip to costco.  we needed a few baby necessities like wipes and formula, and with the sheer quantity we go through nowadays, i've never been so excited for a family costco outing.  the babies are now primarily on formula, which has been a nice change for me, but we realized a huge advantage to breastfeeding that we're giving up- it's free!  we will start going through 2 tubs of formula a week and that stuff is not cheap...looks like more trips to costco are in our future.

john would rather be in bed

us girls love to shop!

time to start another week - not much exciting planned except for a visit from my parents - yay!  hopefully, they won't mind a little 6:30am wake-up call from their new neighbors. =)

here are a few funny pics from last week's doctors visit...

hey bro, i don't like the looks of that potion they're feeding you

mom, please -i don't want any

4 months old

another month has passed and the babies continue to be happy and healthy!  we went for a doctor check-up today, and aside from the expected tears from the shots, they did great...even the doc commented that they seemed like really happy babies!  jacks weighed in at 13lbs 8 oz, which puts him in the 25th percentile, and liv is 13lbs flat, which puts her in the 40th percentile.  we were so thrilled that they're rising in the ranks as both were previously around the 5-10th percentile.

as they completed their fourth month, we hit some great milestones...they rolled over within a day of each other, and have started to "talk" back to us when we coo at them, give us chuckle when we're being amazingly funny, and sleep 11 hours straight (which we're learning makes us very lucky).  tonight is the first night we've put them to bed unswaddled so we'll let you know how that goes!

i also started back at work last week.  while the four months at home with the little ones was wonderful, i was excited to go back to work and have a change in scenery.  being a stay at home mom is really tough!  i work half days from home on mondays and thursdays so the transition back has been fairly easy and i get to spend extra time with our little ones.  i'm thankful that i was given such flexibility in my schedule and know it makes me a happier and more productive mom and employee!

that's it for this week - can't wait to see what month 5 has in store for the pellegrini fam!

yeah...not too excited for their photo shoot
