all is good at the pellegrini household. july was a fun month of mostly hanging around the city and spending time together. we took lyla in for her 18 month check-up and she’s as healthy as an ox. gotta love when I plop her on the scale and the nurse comments “wow, she’s a big girl”. her head circumference continues to hover around the 99th percentile, her weight at 24.5lbs puts her at 70% and her height is at 52%. lyla is definitely one of the gang now - the kids all play together when at home or at the park which is fun to see. thankfully, she can also do her own thing so if the kids are watching a show, she’s often found wandering around the room putting scraps of paper in a cup or something equally as thrilling.
jacks and liv are both as silly as ever. unfortunately it often escalates around dinner time, so there have a been a few instances where one has to eat in the kitchen and the other in the dining room. that separation is usually enough motivation to finish up quickly so they can reunite (and continue to giggle away). i've been enjoying our bedtime ritual or reading chapter books - we recently finished james and the giant peach (not a huge fan), and are now reading Charlotte’s Web, which the kids and i are really enjoying. perhaps my favorite part of charlotte's web is reading about how sad wilbur got when he learned he was going to end up as christmas dinner. i'm hoping this will keep my kids off a pig diet…although they did choose to make and eat a “pig in a blanket” at school recently so not sure i’ve indoctrinated them well enough.
