2 years + 7 months, and the kids head to camp!

after a glorious week of colds, coughs and fevers that swept through the entire family, we are all feeling a bit better and enjoying the summer's many bbq's, picnics, and playdates.  jacks recently surprised us with about a week of crazy tantrums (never heard him scream that loud!).  we think the worst of it is over and are hoping it was just a little phase that is now fading away (livi did go through her own bout of tantrums a few months ago and has since been somewhat of an "angel" lately).

the kids officially start preschool five days a week in september, but their school offers a four week summer session that we signed them up for two days a week. we knew that livi wouldn't even blink an eye when we left them there for the 3 hours (in fact, she gave me a smiley high five good-bye), and we also knew that jacks would have a harder time with the separation.  for the first three days, he screamed and cried as we left, but thankfully we could sneak back in the upper part of the school and peer down at them playing, and could witness for ourselves that he fully recovered in less than one minute!  finally, on day 4 while they were sitting at the art table, leanne said good-bye, and although he got a little quiet, he didn't make a peep or shed a tear.  we are so proud of him and happy he's adapting to all the change!

such sophisticated poses

easiest photo shoot yet

probably because there was a chocolate covered raisin waiting for them

leanne headed home to Ireland for a week, so take a look at the replacements

the week went from all fun to a sick little jacksie

it only took a couple of tries to get her on the carousel

the rest of the afternoons were filled with snuggling

and lots of long naps

thankfully, these replacements were free so it's ok to sleep on the job

livi, papa bob and i went out one afternoon to get some fresh air

mr. sick jumped out of grandma's lap to get his 1/5 share of the donut

thankfully, after a week jacks felt much better and got his appetite back

and he got to head back out to the park

headed to school with a backpack stuffed with extra clothes and family pictures

they were actually really excited!

the physical space is amazing - a cute red school house with a yard they have access to all day

their cubbies melt my heart

potty success

washing hands is a favorite activity

they continue to ensure bones is in good health (this is an ear exam)

the dog has also become an extension of the train tracks

thankfully, bones sleeps all day and doesn't destroy their toys

4th of july was spent with friends at kim's parents bbq

right after the brownies,
the two poodles were the highlight of independence day for these kids

jacks and gracie had a special connection
(too bad bones won't allow another furry friend near the house)

fro-yo in a taster cup

climbing UP the slide is their preferred activity at the park

they also love the big swings...
now if they would just learn to pump their legs

time to pick up our favorite deep dish pizza and head home

i mean, come on, isn't this the cutest construction worker you've ever seen?

sunday off-the-grid picnic in the presidio

food trucks, furry friends, and lots of grass

thankfully, nat was there to assist in walking august

typical liv, solo dancing by the dj booth

taking a break from all of the chaos

brownie-batter chocolate cone?

yes, please!

in a state of ecstasy

august was so patient with all the loving attention

it doesn't surprise me that livi has the strongest immune system in the family

they skipped their nap and we didn't want them to fall asleep at home,
so we somehow stumbled upon the jazz festival on fillmore

waiting for dad to go get the car because the three of us were too tired to walk six blocks

one happy boy

one crazy girl

she started cheering with the rest of the crowd after the band finished a song

next impromptu spot, pizza!
thankfully, they were given entertainment with crayons,

cups of water and some straws, and

the biggest hit - their very own balls of pizza dough!

john and i were content...and exhausted

apparently, no nap meant jacks was deliriously happy and awake
(he didn't go to bed until 10pm!)

after a wonderful long weekend and a BUSY sunday,
they slept in monday morning and were ready to start the week!
