the last weekend in april, we headed to eugene, oregon for my marathon. even the kids and john got to run a race too! i had been so worried about rain in the forecast that i was ecstatic when i woke up at 5am on sunday to learn that no rain was scheduled until noon. while the race was exhausting (what marathon isn't?), i was very thankful for the flat course and perfectly cool weather, and especially for my amazingly supportive and adorable family for cheering me on.
two weeks after eugene, we had our first red rocket racing event scheduled - a very hilly 8 mile trail run in the marin headlands. dave, ryan, and i, along with our spouses, had been planning this race for awhile and were very excited that the day had finally arrived. the week leading up was hectic as we were finalizing items, like prizes, foods, racing bibs, other supplies, and even porta-potties! however, the race went so smoothly, and i was so proud of what we had achieved as a little new racing company. we rode that high for a few days, but now we're back to getting organized for our august 5th 10k in the presidio!
