3 years + 2 months...and 1 month!

we all survived our first month as a family of five (well, six - bones is often more work than a human baby)!  lyla clocked in at 9 lb, 1 oz at her one month check-up, which means she's gaining weight like a champ.  she's also been consistently doing a 5+ hour stretch at night between feeds, which means i get about 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep - hallelujah!  hopefully, that stretch continues to get longer over the next month.

jacks and livi have been taking a bigger interest in their little sister, especially since we just introduced the pacifier.  they are very 'helpful' and enjoy plugging it in her mouth, but they're still learning that she doesn't always want it (no matter how long and how hard you push it in!).  john headed back to work, which means my days are a lot lonelier. however, with school drop-off and pick-ups, walking bones, and general errands, i'm managing to still keep pretty busy...although i do look forward to 7pm every night for john to come home.

smiles for days

they cannot look at the camera when holding her,
no matter what commotion we make

chuckling at something

our littlest beauty

john's latest nickname for lyla is "little foot"
(he's obsessed with her feet)

we've been doing lots of baking lately

and enjoying our (usually chocolate) creations

after our burger and fries at roam, we all share a delicious milkshake
that gets passed around the table so that we all get our turn for sips

they did not want me to share with lyla

and repeatedly stated 'i don't want her to drink all of it!'

their preschool had a 1/2 mile fun run (or scoot)

of course, the highlight for them was the after party with bagels and juice

we had special visitors from chicago - aunt jackie and
cousin dara!

lyla was thrilled to make some new friends

jacks was great at showing dara the ropes
with our magnatiles

we were beyond shocked that they lined up and smiled!

odin came over with his family to watch the warriors game

jacks and liv showed him some of their favorite games

we've had to reinstate 'ice cream thursdays' to create a
positive association with the day...

...because 'swim school thursday' was causing too much anxiety

we headed to golden gate park on sunday

cheering on leanne as she ran her 1/2 marathon

we took a snack break by the ocean

we did what we do best during john's last
final days at home

we enjoyed lots of hot cups of coffee (key word "hot"
because with kids, it always ends cold by the time you
have a chance to actually drink it!)

my days at home without john  include walking the dog...

taking the kids to school...

and i even got to go on their first field trip!

everyone was eager for snack time at the park after a long walk

goldfish and dried cranberries...yummy!

as usual, jacks was basically the last man standing on the snack blanket
(his buddy joined the group late)

livi and i wanted some fresh air so we headed out for a special treat

my favorite frozen yogurt in our old neighborhood

jacks and john had fun at home eating plain yogurt and
talking about guy things

we found this paci of livi's and introduced it to lyla
(after it got a good cleaning)

one with no pants and one with no shirt...keeping it classy!

a super hero fashionista

they LOVE joining lyla on the play mat

jacks is sooo gentle with her, but livi needs to be
reminded often

lyla's "oh sh*t!!" face

i know how to keep them quiet and busy when i'm feeding the baby

our littlest monkey

of all the places to sleep, bones managed to choose this spot

we started off trying to keep the twins off the play mat,
but it was a futile exercise

livi was silently following john's moves

a deer in headlights

our nightly routine includes lyla's 8pm feed,

squeezing in one episode of breaking bad,

and john finishing up work (while i head to bed)

and by 7am each morning, we're up again!

looking sleepy, super-jacks...must be a rough life!
