s'mores...and bones turns 4!

on september 30, bones officially turned 4 (well, according to his intake shelter as details of his pre-shelter life is unknown).  in keeping with our annual tradition, john took him to in-n-out for a cheeseburger and fries, which lasts bones about 5 days of tasty treats!  each birthday john and i always reflect on how amazed we are that we survived another year with a dog that doesn't quite get along with other dogs or humans (except for family, of course).

nice white tablecloth, dad - looks like a crib sheet?

dessert was french fries in a box

we headed down to santa cruz this weekend for a little mini-vacation - we always welcome a change in scenery, especially not having to stare at the mountain of to-do's we have at home.  in addition to eating some good meals and checking out the local sites, it was really nice having some quality family time w/o (too many) work distractions.  even with runny noses and coughs, they did great!  i think the highlight of the trip was the beach bonfire complete with s'mores!  when we got back to our room, our evening was topped off by leftover pizza and microwaved s'mores, definitely a pellegrini-style date night.

jacks was brushing his 4 teeth during the whole meal!

dad was negotiating with crazy for his blackberry

good morning, fishies!

livi had her hands all in the touching pool
(the lady was kind enough to let her touch the mossy rock)

he wanted nothing to do with the cold water
(however, he was very interested to learn that the starfish
would eat the barnacles if they were in the same tank)

penguin feeding!

while i was in the candy store, dad took the kids
to get their fortune from miss kitty

i was so engrossed in my book when someone woke early from his nap...
thankfully, he was equally interested in his novel

dad learned his lesson in letting livi grab his nose
(in case you can't see, she left a nice red scratch)
