maui: part two

now that we've been home for a week, i can definitely say i miss our time in hawaii.  we made many great memories but the below are the top 10 things i will surely think about for awhile.  in no particular order...

10. babies first dip in the pool - while they really only got their feet wet, we had so much fun bringing them into the pool...not sure if jackson appreciated dad putting his feet in the waterfall, but john sure got a kick out of it.  the best part were the adorable bathing suits - they couldn't have looked any cuter!

9. paparazzi - well, not really, but the amount of people that would come up to us and swoon over our little ones was quite crazy.  strangers even asked if they could take a picture of them when they were lying together in the shade.  we know they are cute but people seriously LOVE seeing twins.

8. wonderful grandparents - john's parents were so great to have with us - not only to help with the babies but we really just love their company.  from hanging by the pool to enjoying leisurely dinners and great conversation, we left hoping to be able to vacation with them again soon.

7. running in the sun - a few mornings john's parents watched the babies while we got a few miles in.  even though we were sweating buckets and huffing and puffing throughout, it was really nice to run without cold and fog and with views of the ocean

6. the pirate kiddie pool - it was so fun to watch all the little kids playing around in the 12 inch deep water.  obviously our little ones weren't doing any swimming but it got us excited for the future enjoyment they will surely get out of a pool like that!

5. monchong - john and i rarely eat fish...mostly because we don't cook it at home and only go out on occasion to nice places where we would typically get good quality fish.  in hawaii, fresh fish is everywhere and is prepared so deliciously.  we probably had more fish in maui than we've had in the past 12 months.  monchong ended up being my favorite!

4. the heavenly bed - we both slept like angels in the white pillowy bed...it probably had to do with the time change and the fact there was no sixty pound dog trying to spoon us.

3. breakfast buffet - john and i were unreasonably excited to head over for coffee, fruit, scrambled eggs, bagels, and oatmeal at 7am...yes, we ate the same thing seven days in a row and we were the first ones at breakfast every morning.

2. babies in onesies - in san francisco, liv and jacks are always in long shirts, pants and socks since it's quite chilly.  but in the warm hawaiian air they could let loose in just their bathing suits or a onesie - it's so cute to see their little arm and leg chub and to feel their soft skin.

1. hula pie - a cookie crust topped with a massive amount of rich macadamia nut ice cream and smothered with a thick layer of fudge...worth toting two infants on a five-hour flight for.
