we had such a wonderful trip to maui and can see why people only have great things to say about this island! we were a tad nervous about how it would all go, especially the plane ride, but we were pleasantly surprised with how smoothly everything went. lugging around two car seats, two carriers, and two babies was not always the easiest but people around us sure got a kick out of it - we were definitely a spectacle to be seen. i'm not sure how many times we heard, "wow, you guys are brave". thankfully, our little ones made it easy on us - they ate during take-off and landing, and in between, they slept, "played" with their toy dragonfly, or stared at the other passengers as we strolled down the aisles on the plane.
i instantly fell in love with our hotel upon seeing the full washer and dryer in our room - wow, how my priorities have changed! we had plenty of space for the four of us and were right next to the kiddie pool, which proved convenient since we were always in and out of our room for feedings, diaper changes and occasional naps. we spent the first two days mostly in the shade taking in the blue water and sunny skies and were giddy with excitement when john's parents arrived as we realized a couple extra hands would go a long way. with grandma and grandpa in the room next door, john and i were able to go for a few morning runs, spend some time in the sun, and enjoy a beachside cocktail. after each relaxing day, all six of us headed out to a nice dinner and an early bedtime (since we were up at 6am each morning!).
