6 years + 3 months...3 years + 2 months

another crazy month has passed...and even though life is very full, we (well, me and the kids) thought we needed one more special friend in our life to make it complete!  our little furry guy riggins, formerly known as elvis, joined the family on feb 22 (i swear it was a coincidence that john's birthday is feb 20)!  we "tested him out" for the weekend to see if he would be a good fit - meaning extremely tolerant of little annoying children and big floppy dogs, and not bothered by the crazy city sounds and people that we encounter on our sf walks.  well, he passed with (mostly) flying colors! sunday dinner rolled around and john was forced into making a final decision, and just like usual, he chose to support our crazy ideas because they make us happy vs. listening to his inner voice (i mean, who needs more than 6 hours of sleep anyway).

let's just say riggy was not excited to be lyla's photo prop

that's better - let's stick with something inanimate

the cutest!

photo bombed

everyone meet miss crazy

happy birthday to john!

john's co-workers got him a pretty sweet cake

auntie keet and uncle mike had baby senna!

the kids are pumped to have a cousin, and
john and i are so excited to have a niece

the picture that captured my heart

they kept tabs on each other for the first couple of days

herbie was a little bewildered by the little guy that stole his bed

thankfully, herbs is the most patient doggy friend ever
(even when said friend is using his kong)

first night of putting the human kids to bed...
the dogs don't look too comfortable with this task

herbie is not allowed on the couch, but he felt so left
out that he crawled right on top of john and fell asleep

the race to bed between riggy and herbie can be intense...riggs goes under
the covers and herb by head (until john comes and puts them in their crates)
morning snuggles with their new friend

thankfully, they share the same interests...sunbathing!

and who doesn't like a walk around the neighborhood

even grandma susie has approved of the little man

jacks is probably the most smitten with riggs...and we
love seeing his emotion and tenderness with his pup

these two brothers actually started playing together! yay!

it took a week or so, but they also finally shared a bed
(we'll work on their comfort with touching each other next!)

the first group picture after john said "yes!"
