jacks and livi are finally four! they are healthy and happy little preschoolers, and we're thankful everyday that we lucked out with such sweet-natured and silly kids. we recently had our parent-teacher conferences at school, and what the teachers said are probably the best reflections of their little personalities. overall, the teachers had such positive things to say about them...made me so proud!
jacks is a very balanced boy, who is thoughtful, analytical and a sweetheart. he can sit and work through projects independently but also loves joining in group activities; he can lead and also follow. he has a love of and natural talent for numbers, and kids often ask him to count for them when they're doing a specific activity. he doesn't want to be the center of attention but exudes a quiet confidence. he has clear and on-point messages to communicate when he raises his hand at circle time. he's strong and is confident in his balance and climbing abilities.
the three teachers all burst into laughter when we got to livi - apparently, she is "just a ball of happiness" and loves to laugh. she's witty and is one of the first to find the humor in books, jokes, and songs. she gets messy in the art room - first using the paint brush but then exploring with her hands to make interesting artwork. she likes making costumes that usually get a laugh out of people. she also enjoys drawing elaborate pictures and making up a story to go along with them. even on their long days there (8+ hours), she is always in a great mood and a joy to have around.
don't forget the third wheel! lyla is 11 months, and we cannot believe how fast this past year has flown by. she's taken her first steps, and will be chasing after her brother and sister in no time!

we held it at the school, which was perfect in providing shelter from the rain and toys to engage kids of all ages |
| lyla only has two more years before this is her school too! |
two teachers put on an engaging musical performance that the whole family enjoyed! |
| lyla was totally in her element |
she had so much fun, she passed out in a corner while the party continued on |
| the awesome cakes showed off the ballerinas and baseball theme |
the party ended with the 5 birthday kids getting a private party to destroy the pinatas |
| when we got back from the party, it was time to do gifts! |

| lyla was trying to steal some gifts for herself from baby rory |
