2 years + 5 months...and ice cream!

these kiddos are almost two and a half years old…well on their way to 3!  not much new has been going on – mostly just packing and running errands to prepare for our upcoming trip to the philippines.  because of the long flights, we know that movies will soon become our best friend.  since the kids never watch tv, we decided to start 'practicing' at home on the weekends in order to get them up to speed on the characters.  and wouldn't ya know it, it didn't take long for them to familiarize themselves with daniel the tiger, winnie the pooh, and dora the explorer.

we did an early mother’s day with grandma vivi last weekend since we knew today would be focused on packing for our 10 day trip.  i did manage to have a lovely little morning with my main crew – a family 5 miler, opening unexpected gifts (hello, vitamix!), getting coffee and fruit at the farmers’ market, and then followed with a mani-pedi in solitude while john took the kiddos to the park.  i couldn't be more thankful for such a wonderful husband and two fabulous children...oh, and bones!

getting so big!

he'll probably still be holding his 'ah-ah' when he heads to prom

mom and baby bonding time

i enjoyed the treat...

as well as the silence that lasted about 5 minutes

alas, all good things must come to an end

they then sprint off to go horseback riding!

they waited patiently as i tried to figure out how to download dora from apple tv

it was worth the wait!!

somebody got a little tired during the video

jacks has been extra snuggly lately

i guess it runs in the family

sunday breakfast at kelly and mark's new place!

kids + white chairs = mom anxiety

see you every sunday morning!

kelly and mark are even two blocks from an awesome playground

from the east bay, we headed to daily city for john's basketball game
(the kids and I decided to pass the time at target and jamba juice)

when we had evening plans the other weekend,
leanne and gregory took the kids to fisherman's wharf

turns out she's got a killer jumpshot

no special outing is complete without some ice cream

apparently, they laughed the entire ride home!

cooking class with samantha and mackenzie

and our chance to meet mary's and duane's new addition

two sets of twins + baby ellie

at her last visit, her screams could be heard from the waiting room

this time she was amazing...even started making jokes in the chair!

proud to have introduced leanne to her first egg mcmuffin
(a hull, and now pellegrini, favorite)

perfecting their bowl of tortilla soup with an assortment of toppings

livi is weirdly obsessed with pad thai

her technique could use some refinement

they're building skills are quite impressive

they even trapped bones' dragon on the bottom

rewarded by the cleaners for watching mom get three dresses altered
after soccer practice

they find that they paint landscapes best in an outdoor studio
with natural light

caught red-handed

clear skies and sunshine

visiting their buddies

sand toys are serious business

liv and her buds getting buried

ooohhhh, look at those toppings

i swear these two do not eat ice cream every day

shelby, liv, jacks

a new addition to the toy graveyard at the park

so many different bikes, scooters, and push toys left behind
here he comes!

he won't look up...concentrating way too hard for the slide

on the other hand, meet crazy

our little goofball

first big boy cut (ie. he didn't insist on sitting on my lap!)

he sits still even with all the buzzers she pulls out

this little one put on a dance show while her brother
got his hair cut

jacks blew chunks one morning,
so leanne and these two spent the morning getting "nice and tozy"

thankfully, by the afternoon he was feeling much better!

such pro's on the bus now

lunch date at the zoo

they always enjoy gym class

their dismounts were flawless

heading downtown to meet dad for friday date night

looking mighty tough in the their hoodies
(they insist "hood on!")

we rarely see another soul at 7am on weekend mornings

peaceful

two go up...

but only one comes down!

trying to clean up our matchbook-sized double nursery
with the full house in attendance

early mothers' day dinner

they surprisingly didn't like the fried banana but feasted on the coconut ice cream

jacks' turn with the headband

miss liv

outtakes from john's mother's day card attempts

they look like they just woke up

there's that inner crazy i love

forget sleeping in on mother's day, it's family run time!

i had lots of help opening gifts

headed to the farmer's market to find some sweet strawberries

spiderman and spiderwoman

this is his pre-dismount position

they got a kick out of locking john out of the house

we needed to spend the afternoon packing, and this was the best way
to ensure they stayed out of our way

i had to end this post with more ice cream...
ancho chocolate and salted caramel - divine!
