with less than a week until the big day, we made the quick decision to have a small party for the kids on the evening of their birthday. we were headed out of town the next morning so we kept it simple - last minute emails to our friends, burritos and beer, and our favorite mini-cupcakes. the kids had a blast seeing their favorite people, playing with new toys and just running around like the crazy toddlers that they are. the last of the guests left around 10pm, and while definitely tired, jacks and livi were still smiling and 'chatting' about their special day.
on this past friday, we took them to their 2 year check-up which, like every other doctor visit, was horribly chaotic with lots of screams and tears and shouts of "all done! all done!" trying to take their measurements was a mess - jacks barely stood still on the scale and was slumped over when measuring his height. livi was a disaster and went limp like a dead fish when it was her turn, so i was determined to get some good stats once we got home. with my 'expert' skills, we were able to conclude that jacks is 34 inches tall and 28.2 pounds and livi is 33.5 inches tall and 26.6 pounds. both are healthy as can be and perfectly on track in terms of language and motor development. not much more we can ask for!
