apparently the 'terrible twos' start earlier than the name suggests. i would say that *most* of the time, these two are happy and their usually silly selves but other times...oh my! livi's favorite word is "no!!" and flings herself on the ground, especially if she doesn't want to put on a shirt or get into her carseat. jacks has adopted a high pitched scream that he likes to incorporate into his usual frustration-cry when something is not going his way (eg. the train fell off the track after he pushed it too hard).
on the development side, jacks' now strings multiple words together. he's always lagged a bit behind livi in language but then once he hits a milestone, he runs with it. he loves repeating phrases even though they're irrelevant to what's going on. our favorite is 'mama home' or 'daddy home' even though he will say this on a sunday when we haven't gone anywhere. it does make us feel a little guilty that we must be gone a lot during the week that the act of being home is a big enough deal to be one of his key phrases! leanne sent us a video at gym class where he's riding in a mini-car and once it stops after bumping the wall, he looks up at leanne and says "daddy home" (mind you, dad was at work at the time).
livi can literally sing songs now. when we start singing the abc's, the letters flow off her tongue and she ends with the most adorable version of "lmnop". she'll also break out in 'bah-bah black sheep' as she walking around. we always smile when she's having "a conversation" with herself, pointing at who knows what, saying a bunch of random words that apparently make sense to her. she's also been working on her running form - she looks less like a stiff-legged power walker and is gaining more speed...all the better to catch jacks when he takes her ball and starts running around the dining table. =)
