dad, where did you go??

john had a work trip pop up and he headed to korea and japan for 5.5 days (yes, i was counting).  we managed to stay busy while he was gone and thankfully had a little extra help from leanne.  the last time john was gone for an extended period of time, the babies reaction to his return wasn't that great - they cried.  this time, it was all different - he got smiles and lots of clapping!

on another note, something huge happened recently - livi gave up her pacifier.  leanne and i were getting pretty annoyed with having to go into the nursery multiple times to pick it up after she'd yell to let us know she dropped it out of the crib.  we knew we were going to have to take it away at some point but that thing is magical! she'd get so excited to get in the crib because it would be waiting for her and we always kept a safety on hand in case she was super upset or tired in a restaurant, on an airplane, etc.  well, on november 15, we put her to bed with no paci and waited.  she got pissed for a few minutes, but then she started chatting away and fell asleep without incident.  it took only about 2 days for her to adjust fully - she now actually goes to sleep faster and stays asleep longer.  it turns out the paci was just a huge distraction!
